AHMEDABAD: In a major boost to the textile industry of Gujarat, the Union government has given its final approval for setting up a Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (MITRA) Park at Navsari on Friday.

The textile park in Navsari will be among seven others across the country. A total outlay of Rs 4,445 crore has been proposed for setting up these parks.

Industry players in Gujarat have hailed the move as it will prove to be a major boost towards setting up an entire value chain of textile manufacturing in Gujarat.

“The state will benefit the most as it is already home to man-made fibre, technical textiles and readymade garments sectors,” an industry player said. The government has also announced the Production-Linked Incentives (PLI) scheme for the textiles industry.

Eleven firms have also signed MoUs to establish their units with a total investment of 1,231 crore in the park generating 6,315 jobs. It will come up on 1,052 acres at E. Kumaralingapuram village offering plug-and-play facilities as part of an integrated value chain.
